(The Rocks) is a wonderful beach house
located on one of the most dramatic spots on Vieques!
Situated above an unusual, large outcropping of volcanic
rock and imaginatively designed to incorporate the
existing boulders, Las Piedras is a gated three-bedroom home accommodating eight adults with ease.
Las Piedras is on the north shore of the island
with breathtaking views of Puerto Rico, Culebra and, on
clear days, St. Thomas on the eastern horizon.
Designed by a well-known designer of unique New York
City lofts, the spacious upper level of Las
Piedras is built to take full advantage of the
extraordinary views with 8-foot glass doors extending
the full length of the front of the house overlooking
the ocean and a spacious deck above the crashing surf
below.
The open plan of the upper floor flows from living room to dining area to
kitchen with vaulted ceilings and incredible views. The dining area is
surrounded by windows above the waves and is just off the fully equipped kitchen
complete with refrigerator/freezer and icemaker with a door dispenser, range,
microwave, blender, coffeemaker, dishwasher and trash compacter. There is
a large bathroom on this floor featuring a 4 person tub.
Downstairs is a cozy comfortable den leading to the
pool. There are two spacious bedrooms on this level.
The Master Bedroom features a king size platform bed and
a master bath. The second bedroom has two queen-sized
beds. A one-of-a-kind bathroom built into
the existing stone is across the hall. All the rooms on
this floor face the ocean.
On the ground floor is private
bedroom with its own full bathroom. Built around huge
rocks, this bedroom is separate from the rest of the
house. It features a queen-sized bed and an outdoor
stairway leading upstairs to the pool and den. Please
note, this bedroom is never rented separately.
The windows throughout are screened and there are
fans in every room.
Perhaps the best feature of Las Piedras is
the pool. Surrounded by decks and dramatically
cantilevered over the ocean, the deep-water pool boasts
some of the best views of the house. Creatively
designed, the pool is structured such that when you're
in it, you feel as though you're in the ocean itself.
This is the perfect spot to relax with a tall drink at
the end of the day and gaze at an unbelievably beautiful
sky as the setting sun lights up the billowing clouds
surrounding El Yunque, the rain forest mountain
on the main island 8 miles away.
The sandy swimming beach is just beyond the villa wall.
Some of the best snorkeling on Vieques is less than a
dozen yards into the sea. And THE best surfing on the
island is just down the beach.
Because of the floor plan with exposed rocks and open stairways and decks, the
house is not suitable for children under the age of 12.
Las Piedras offers a relaxed atmosphere in
a dramatic setting: the perfect beachfront villa for
you.
Las Piedras is pet friendly and smoking is allowed in the communal areas.

properties are equipped with bed linens bath towels, and kitchen utensils. Daily
maid service is not provided unless indicated, but may be available upon advance

The hospital is on the main road connecting Esperanza and Isabel II.
Med-Evac helicopter service is available to San Juan hospitals when
necessary.
CAR RENTAL
It is wonderful to have a car, in order to easily enjoy the sights
of the island. Rental cars are booked up far in advance during peak
season, so you should reserve your rental car as soon as you have
secured your vacation rental.
TAXI
Taxi's are called "publicos" and can be arranged for by phone. They
are difficult to obtain early morning or late evening and in peak
season.
TRAVEL
REQUIREMENTS
If you are a U.S. citizen, you do not need a passport to fly to
Puerto Rico or Vieques. |
